KUBIS VISITS TASHNAG PARTY HQ IN BORJ HAMMOUD, MEETS PAKRADOUNIAN
UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis, visited on Wednesday the Tashnag Party headquarters in Borj Hammoud and met with its Secretary General MP Hagop Pakradounian.
Discussions reportedly touched on the country’s political, economic and social issues, especially those related to political stability, the necessary economic reforms and displaced Syrians.
MP Hagop Pakradounian expressed appreciation for the support provided by the international community, stressing “the need to maintain stability and ease tensions and internal political rhetoric, as well as to move from public statements to working on accomplishing genuine reforms and measures that meet the needs of the people.”
Pakradounian also gave a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by the people of Borj Hammoud and its vicinity due to the presence of large numbers of displaced people and the unorganized workforce, asking of the United Nations and donor sides to “provide additional assistance, not only to Syrians but also to the Lebanese citizens.”
Kubis, in turn, expressed appreciation for the party’s humanitarian position in hosting large numbers of displaced people with regard to their humanitarian situation pending their return to their country.
