Ambassador Christina Lassen, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, visited on Thursday an encampment for Syrian refugees in Saadnayel to check on the progress of disseminating EU aid to displaced families and meet with some of the cases there.

Lassen asserted continued EU aid for Lebanon in facing the overwhelming refugee crisis.

“London Convention of last February allocated 361 million euros to cater to the urgent needs of Syrian refugees and hosting Lebanese communities,” she noted.

The EU has allocated over a million euros for such aid since 2012.

“The EU lauds the generosity of Lebanon and admits to the heavy burden created by this crisis. The EU and member countries gathered substantial resources to stand by Lebanon and protect its fabric from the complicated challenges brought about by the refugee crisis.”
