Lebanese General Security: No incident recorded with any Syrian citizen who returned homeland

The General Directorate of Lebanese General Security has affirmed that no incident has been recorded with any Syrian citizen who returned to his country under the auspices of General Security and under the supervision of the United Nations agencies operating in Lebanon.

The Directorate said in a statement on Saturday: “All return trips for Syrian citizens that the directorate has organized during the past years have been flawless.”

It reiterated that the powers entrusted to it at the border crossings are limited to sealing travel documents that are in the possession of transients after verifying them and completing the judicial procedures, it is not the task of its soldiers to inspect vehicles or people.

The Directorate pointed out that these tasks fall within the powers of the competent authorities at the crossings.

Earlier on Saturday, the Syrian Embassy in Beirut refuted the baseless allegations circulated by some social networking sites about the disappearance of what it called “Syrian activists” who allegedly entered the embassy and did not leave it.
