Makhzoumi confers with Theresa May: Britain supports Lebanon’s stability, stands by the Lebanese in pressing issues, particularly in displaced dossier

In a statement by National Dialogue Party Chief, MP Fouad Makhzoumi’s Information Bureau on Sunday, it indicated that MP Makhzoumi held talks with British Prime Minister, Theresa May, over the general situation in Lebanon and the region.

Following said talks, Makhzoumi asserted that “Britain stands by Lebanon’s stability and supports it in its urgent issues, particularly in the displaced dossier.”

He disclosed that “discussions touched on the outcome of the recent parliamentary elections in Lebanon, as well as Britain’s Brexit preparations.”

Makhzoumi stressed “the importance of working to strengthen the Lebanese-British relations, especially in trade and business, as a prelude to contributing to the reconstruction of Syria.” He also called for “activating the work of the British-Lebanese Parliamentary Friendship Committee.”

“I called on Ms. May to support Lebanon in the educational and technology fields, and to allow Lebanon the chance to benefit from the British Kingdom’s experience in expanding investment prospects, attracting investors, and opening-up labor markets to the young and promoting trade and cultural exchanges,” Makhzoumi went on.

Meanwhile, he welcomed “Moscow’s initiative to ensure the return of displaced Syrians to their country through joint efforts with Washington.”

“The international support in this dossier reassures the displaced and relaxes the Lebanese interior at all levels, unifying its ranks,” Makhzoumi concluded.
