Mikdad: We dream of a better world that depends of UN Charter

“Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations” held on Tuesday a ministerial meeting in Belgrade in the framework of the high-level meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) with participation of 19 states, including Syria.

Foreign and Expatriates Minister , Fayssal Mikdad, said in a statement during the meeting “we are implementing our agreements and resolutions and we dream of a better world for us and the others; a world based on UN charter.”

“What we need is general discussions on the challenges that we face because of the biased explanations of UN charter or policies of some states to dominate the world’s capabilities, and preserve their own interests as the charter faces a lot of distortion” Mikdad added.

He added that those sides stress that “seizing territories of other states is self- defense in spite of the fact that the charter is clear in this regard and refuses this explanation.”

“ Some states allege that unilateral coercive measures are their right at a time the charter affirms its contradiction with these allegations,” Mikdad said.
