MoFA Undersecretary for Political Affairs reviews Bahraini-American relations

Washington, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Political Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), participated in a roundtable meeting at Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington.

Ambassador William Roebuck, the Executive Vice President of the Institute, along with officials and researchers, attended the meeting.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and strategic partnership with the United States in light of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement. This cooperation serves mutual interests and contributes to establishing security, stability, and comprehensive peace, as well as advancing sustainable development in the Middle East and the world.

He reviewed the Bahraini-American relations and the most prominent current regional and international developments, the efforts made to establish a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, pr
otect civilians and civilian objects, release hostages and detainees, deliver humanitarian aid to the civilian population, reduce the military escalation in the region, and the prospects for reviving the peace process in the region.

The undersecretary highlighted the Kingdom’s pride in His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s leadership. He also commended the government’s efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen the longstanding relations with the US. He noted the progress made in political, security, technical, and economic partnerships since the signing of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement. He emphasised that this partnership is crucial for maintaining international peace and security.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah urged the international community to support the royal initiatives approved by the Arab Summit concerning the convening of an international peace conference in the Middle East aimed at establ
ishing an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution, as well as providing educational and health services to those affected by conflicts, viewing these efforts as fundamental pillars for a safe, peaceful, and prosperous region.

Ambassador Roebuck confirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and strategic alliance with Bahrain and appreciated the Kingdom’s fruitful initiatives in establishing regional and international security and peace and combating extremism and terrorism.

The roundtable also included participation from Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Director General of Bilateral Relations.
