Al-Quds is the essence and the symbol of the 70-year conflict in the region, Hezbollah Secretary General said in a speech he delivered on Friday marking Al-Quds International Day, adding that the day of the Great War was coming, and pledging to pray in al-Quds one day.

On this occasion, Hezbollah held a massive celebration at Iran’s garden in the town of Maroun al-Ras, which was attended by MP Ali Bazzi, representing Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri.

We meet to celebrate Al-Quds Day, which is proclaimed an international day by Imam Al-Khomeini. This day is of great religious, spiritual, intellectual, jihadist, and humane value, Nasrallah said.

Each year, the International Quds Day is celebrated on the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Millions of people across the world throng the streets to mark this day designated by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

We’ve decided to mark Al-Quds Day in the town of Maroun Al-Ras because it lies on occupied Palestine’s border and to stress our ongoing challenge against the Israeli enemy, Nasrallah added. Moreover, he deemed Al-Quds day an occasion which all the peoples of the world supported in solidarity.

Day after day, the importance of this event and the importance of Al-Quds celebrating a world day are confirmed. First of all, Jerusalem and the Islamic holy shrines are the core and symbol of this conflict. Secondly, Al-Quds and the Palestinian cause are being continuously subjected to our enemy’s control and liquidation designs, most recent of which Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the zionist entity, and the transfer of the US Embassy, Hezbollah Secretary General said.

He went on to sound the alarm on what he described as the most serious issue this year, in reference to the so called deal of the century, which aims at terminating the Palestinian cause and handing over and the holy shrines to the Israeli enemy.

“There are three fundamental challenges facing this city: the first challenge appeared after the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which was very well expected and consistent with the US policies. The real battle is that the world, and especially the Arab and Islamic countries, should not recognize the US decision or surrender to it. Despite the circumstances of Arab and Islamic countries, this battle has strong potential, especially that many countries refuse to recognize Trump’s decision. The least effort required from the Arab and Islamic Countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League, is to face and win this battle so that the rest of the world will not opt for the recognition of Al-Quds as the capital of Israel, Nasrallah warned.

The second challenge is the demographic challenge in Al-Quds the challenge of changing the population’s identity, Nasrallah added.

Since the occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, Zionists have been working on bringing about a decisive demographic change in the city of East Quds and in Al-Quds as a whole. The city of Al-Quds is bogged down in a major Israeli challenge to change its population’s identity by annexing and appending settlement blocs in Jerusalem, under the title of Greater Jerusalem, and by increasing settlements and pressuring the people of Al-Quds to leave, Nasrallah said.

However, he went on to say that the existence of Palestinians in the occupied Al-Quds defended the city and its shrines on behalf of the entire Umma. All the Umma must financially help Palestinians in the occupied Al-Quds.

He went on to lash out at what he described as treacherous Arab businessmen who were purchasing Palestinian houses in occupied Al-Quds and selling them to Zionists. He also accused the KSA of seeking a religious theory on the Israelis’ right to control Al-Quds.

They falsify and distort the meaning of the Holy Coranic verses in order to protect their thrones by surrendering to US orders, recognizing the Zionist entity, and eradicating the Palestinian cause, somber Nasrallah said.

The Hezbollah Secretary General went on to say that it was only normal for those against Iran to find themselves aligned with Israel. Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis mark Al-Quds Day despite the ongoing Saudi aggression on their country men, yet the Bahraini regime defends Israel and opts for normalizing relations with the enemy.

For those wagering on overthrowing the Iranian regime, Nasrallah assured them that their bets were a mere illusion. At the heart of the resistance is a major regional state, Iran, not to mention the real transformation that Iraq has undergone, he told those looking forward to terminate the resistance.

Nasrallah went on to consider Syria a pivotal country in the axis of resistance. The Syrian nation has been exposed to a global war in which all taboos were used. In 2018, the largest and most important area of Syria became safe and the state regained control and hegemony. It is clear that the hostile axes are looking for achieving even the minimum of gains, Nasrallah said.

He added that when the resistance took part in the war in Syria, it believed that what had been going on was a major conspiracy that it sought to topple, fearing that Lebanon would consequently be involved in the Syrian war catastrophe.

I say to the whole world, Hezbollah has no special project in Syria at all. When the war ends, when Syria is safe, and when the armed groups collapse, we will consider that we have accomplished our task, he added.

“We believe that Jerusalem will return to its people and that Palestine will be freed,” he aded as addressing Israeli, finally calling on Israelis to embark ships and board planes to return to where they came from.

This year, Quds Day has become a larger rallying cry as it comes after months of mass protests in Gaza, which were met with deadly force against unarmed protesters. More than 120 Palestinian protesters were martyred.
