National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s President Ali Ahmed Al Derazi and NIHR Secretary-General Yasser Ghanem Shaheen participated in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Paris Principles and the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was held on the sidelines of the annual conference of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

A session was held to present a brief of the institutions’ role in protecting human rights, their views and experiences in protecting and promoting human rights in their countries.

NIHR President was interviewed about the role of national institutions and what the Paris Principles provided in terms of support aimed at the independence of administrative and financial institutions, defining the objectives and terms of reference of institutions, and what the national institutions added in general in promoting and protecting human rights in their countries.
