No landmines sighted at Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant — IAEA

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi stated that agency personnel have not observed any Russian landmines inside the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.

Grossi, in remarks made to Austrian press on Saturday, stated that the agency’s team was not permitted entrance to certain areas in the plant, adding that the turbine hall and cooling system both still require examination.

The Ukrainian military intelligence body had declared last week that Russia planted landmines in the nuclear plant and is planning an attack, allegations Moscow denied.

The nuclear watchdog’s chief affirmed that they are taking these reports seriously.

IAEA confirmed that it was aware that landmines were planted in Zaporizhzhya’s perimeter and in specific points in the plant itself, but did not clarify the nature of the data available to the agency in this regard.
