NUSRA FRONT CAPTURE BASE OF WESTERN-BACKED SYRIA REBELS
DAMASCUS, Syria, Mar 14 – The Syrian wing of al-Qaeda group, Nusra Front, stormed a base and captured weapons from the Western-backed 13th Division rebel group in north-western Syria on Sunday, pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported.
The Nusra Front stormed and captured most of the 13th Division bases, as well as, the arms depots in the Maraet al-Numan city, in the countryside of the north-western province of Idlib, said the report.
Meanwhile, the oppositional Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the report, saying that, the Nusra militants also captured a number of the 13th Division fighters.
The UK-based watchdog group said, the Nusra militants fight against the 13th Division, citing the later training on the hand of US officers.
The Nusra Front, along with the Daesh group have been excluded form the recently-established cessation of hostilities in Syria, as both have been designated as terrorist groups that should be fought.
Activists said, the arms depots the Nusra captured on Sunday, include Western-made weaponry.
The Syrian government and its allies have always warned that the arms and munition sent to the “moderate” rebels will eventually fall in the hands of the terror groups in the war-torn country
