Damascus: The Higher Relief Committee received a humanitarian aid shipment from Pakistan on Monday, which included 60 tons of blankets for those arriving from Lebanon to Syria, fleeing the Israeli aggression on the neighboring country.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the Pakistani Ambassador in Damascus, Shahid Akhtar, stated that this shipment is part of a broader aid initiative by the Pakistani government that began last month. It aims to provide essential supplies like blankets to assist those arriving from Lebanon during the harsh winter months. Ambassador Akhtar emphasized that additional aid shipments would follow in a continuous effort to support the affected communities.
Ambassador Akhtar further highlighted the Pakistani government’s awareness and understanding of the ongoing suffering in the region due to the Israeli attacks. He expressed appreciation for the Syrian government’s efforts in providing aid and assistance to the refugees and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to being an active p
artner in these humanitarian efforts.
Echoing these sentiments, Bassam Saadi, the Relief Director in Damascus Countryside Governorate, acknowledged the significant support from Pakistan. He noted that the aid is crucial in supporting and assisting those displaced from Lebanon due to the Israeli aggression. The distribution of the aid will be managed by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to ensure it reaches those in need effectively.
