Palestine Ahliya University concludes the presentation of “U-SOLVE” projects

As part of the activities of the Sustainable Urban Development Solutions Project to Promote Entrepreneurship U-SOLVE, Palestine National University concluded a day presenting the projects and ideas that qualified for the final stage, numbering 10, out of 29 applications that met the application requirements for the second phase of the U-SOLVE project, and out of 203 applications. It was first introduced in the first phase in Palestine.

The presentation day began with a meeting of the evaluation committee headed by the project director and head of the projects department at Palestine Ahliya University, Mr. Khaled Shana, and its membership included Mr. Thomas Chilasis, project manager in Greece, and Mrs. Dina Al-Araj, technical coordinator of the project from the Bethlehem Municipality, in addition to external experts, namely Engineer Hassan Omar, head of the business incubator. (Glow Innovation) is an international expert and certified trainer for entrepreneurship, and Professor Osama Khaliliyeh is a business administration lecturer at Bethlehem University and a business development consultant.

This was followed by the presentation of 10 ideas and projects based on a pre-prepared presentation model with the basic points to focus on, which are the aspects of creativity and innovation, the urban development challenges that the project addresses, the extent of the project’s ability to implement and be sustainable, in addition to the strength and diversity of the members of each team.

The projects that were presented were diverse and included various sectors, including creative education projects, including the Robex Academy, the Bethlehem Center for Icons, Jusoor Laboratories, Al-Basel Center, and the Warsha Project. Some projects focused on smart phone applications, including the “Catch Yourself” application to benefit from leftover food, and the “General” application to deal with problems. Transportation, some of which focus on the tourism aspect, such as Cinema Corner, Think Tank, and water purification projects represented by the Blue Filter project.

The presentation mechanism, which lasted for 15 minutes for each team, relied on a presentation and discussion by the judging committee to identify the strengths of each project. The committee’s questions focused on aspects of financial sustainability, the ability to implement and achieve quick gains, as well as the connection of the solutions presented to the urban development problems that were reached through Through a diagnostic report on the status of entrepreneurship and its connection to urban development in Palestine, it was prepared in the early stages of the project. The jury also provided recommendations and advice to male and female entrepreneurs.

Immediately upon completion of the evaluation of the projects and ideas presented today, the judging committee will announce the five winners who will receive financial support amounting to 10 thousand euros each with the aim of developing and expanding their projects in response to the urban development needs that the project aimed from the beginning to address under the supervision of the project team in Palestine represented by Palestine Ahliya University. As a primary partner in cooperation with the Bethlehem Municipality.

It is noteworthy that the U-SOLVE project is a project funded by the European Union within the ENICBCMED program, with a value of 3.5 million euros, of which 3.2 million are the European Union’s contribution and 10% are the partners’ contribution. The project provides support and funding opportunities for women and youth entrepreneurs to provide innovative solutions to solve problems in urban areas
