PM: govt working for more environment-friendly public transport system

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Monday the government has taken strong strides to turn its public transport system to more environment-friendly in line with international standards, citing the monorail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.

During a meeting with representatives of 90 French companies at the headquarters of the French Business Council “MEDEF”, Madbouli said the BRT is one of the high-quality transport means that seeks customers’ comfort, adding that this new system will be installed after the end of development works of the ring road.

Under the BRT system, the buses will be either electric or powered by gas, and will be operated in a specific lane.

He said Egypt attaches special importance to the digitization file and has taken serious steps to implement the “Digital Egypt” strategy, noting that artificial intelligence will play a pivotal role in the “New Republic”, especially in the health and education domains.

He added that the importance the government attaches to artificial intelligence is clearly manifested in the volume of its allocations in the general budget which increased by about 15 times in two years.
