President El-Sisi Meets Arab and African Public Prosecutors

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Monday 8/11/2021 with the Arab and African public prosecutors participating in the international conference organized by the Egyptian Public Prosecution on the role of public prosecution authorities in combating transnational crimes. Egypt’s Public Prosecutor Chancellor Hamada al-Sawy attended the meeting.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated the President welcomed the public prosecutors from countries participating in the conference.

He underscored the state’s support to Public Prosecution and various judicial authorities in Egypt, as the the rule of law is the basis for ruling.

The President also noted the importance of justice as the highest of human values and the foundation for societies’ stability; and hence the keenness to reinforce the principle of judicial independence and non-interference in the course of its work.

The President reviewed Egypt’s integrated vision within the framework of cross-border cooperation among countries. The vision is based on respecting differences of cultures, customs, traditions and values of peoples and nations.

This requires full understanding of this issue to absorb social, economic and cultural diversity and provide sufficient space for understanding and exchanging experiences.

President El-Sisi also pointed out the importance of the current conference, organized by the Egyptian Public Prosecution, on means to enhance international cooperation to combating transnational crimes.

This topic is considered one of the most important challenges facing the world currently, especially with the multiple regional and international crises and the main role of terrorism in igniting them.

This conference is the first of its kind to bring Arab and African public prosecutors together, and hence contributing to the integration and communication among public prosecutions authorities in a manner that enhances the mechanism of international judicial cooperation.

The President affirmed the important role played by the Africa Prosecutors Association (APA) and the Arab Association for Prosecutors (AAP) in working to enhance the capacity of the prosecution authorities and build their capacity at the regional level. He referred to Egypt’s support for the role of both associations, as the main tools to enhance joint African and Arab action.

The Spokesman added that the Public Prosecutor thanked the President for holding the conference under his patronage and confirmed that the public prosecution’s initiative to hold this important event demonstrates Egypt’s pivotal role at the regional level, particularly in the judiciary and legal fields.

This is in order to find a joint Arab-Africa backer to counter crimes that threaten all peoples and to help realize the desired goal by establishing swift justice, which is fundamental for the stability of countries and safeguarding their sovereignty.

The President engaged in an open discussion with the participants, who thanked the President and Egypt for this important conference that illustrates Egypt’s interest, under the leadership of the President, to strengthen the role of prosecution authorities at the regional level and to contribute to developing mechanisms to counter organized crimes.

This is in order to keep with the latest technological developments that are used in terrorism and money laundering, in addition to intensifying cooperation to mobilize international efforts and exchange expertise and best practices for detection and investigation.

The attendees lauded the significant development leap made in Egypt, under the President’s leadership, whom they experienced firsthand during their site visits to various national projects, especially the New Administrative Capital.

President El-Sisi confirmed that the state’s strategy is based on development and advancement in all parts of Egypt to give hope for a better future to the current and future generations. This is in parallel with realizing the higher goal that is building the Egyptian human capital in order for citizens to enjoy freedom, justice and basic needs.

There was agreement on the importance of using the conference in the future as regular regional platform to exchange views and expertise on issues of mutual interest and to address challenges and difficulties that face the mechanisms of international judicial cooperation, particularly extradition requests and mutual judicial assistance.
