President El-Sisi meets Madagascar’s President on the Sidelines of COMESA Summit

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on 23/11/2021Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina, on the sidelines of the COMESA Summit in the New Administrative Capital.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that President El-Sisi welcomed the President of Madagascar’s visit to Egypt, praising his efforts as Chairman of the COMESA during the last period.

His Excellency President El-Sisi commended the close relations between Egypt and Madagascar, stressing Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially through promoting trade exchange, providing technical support and enhancing capacity building.

For his part, the President of Madagascar expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian government and people, praising the distinguished friendship and brotherly ties that unite the two countries.

He stressed his keenness to continue strengthening these relations at all levels, especially in the framework of various development and technical fields.

The Spokesman stated that the two sides discussed the most important issues on the agenda of the COMESA, especially with regard to strengthening the existing efforts to achieve economic and regional integration.

The President of Madagascar expressed confidence in Egypt’s ability to continue working to advance the frameworks of joint cooperation within COMESA, particularly in light of the remarkable successes it achieved during its chairmanship of the African Union in 2019.

The meeting also discussed a number of bilateral cooperation issues, at the security, economic and development levels in particular. The meeting also addressed a number of continental files of common interest.

In this regard, it was agreed to continue consultation and coordination in a way that contributes to meeting the aspirations of the peoples of the continent toward achieving development and prosperity.
