Ramadan: Saudi Arabia calls for sighting crescent moon on Tuesday

The Saudi Supreme Court has called on all Muslims throughout Saudi Arabia to sight the crescent moon of the month of Ramadan on Tuesday evening.

In its announcement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Supreme Court called on whoever sights the crescent moon whether with the naked eye or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony or to the nearest relevant ad-hoc committee.

The sighting of the crescent moon heralds the start of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which consists of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days.
