Reef Saudi Celebrates International Day of Rural Women, Highlighting Their Role in Developing Saudi Rural Areas

The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Reef Saudi) joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Rural Women, which falls on October 15 each year. This celebration aligns with efforts to support and empower rural women and productive families, enhance their contributions to the labor market, and support the national economy in line with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030.

On this occasion, Spokesperson of Reef Saudi Majid Al-Buraikan stressed that rural women represent a significant human resource that can be leveraged to contribute to various suitable activities and projects. He highlighted the program’s ongoing efforts to create more job opportunities for women by participating in rural activities and programs, entering the labor market, and equipping them with the necessary skills to improve their economic and living conditions and achieve financial sustainability.

Al-Buraikan also said that the program had increased the participation of rural women in the labor market by devel
oping mechanisms, advisory, and consultancy services that contribute to integrating rural women and ensuring their participation in the program’s activities. Also, the program provides women with training, enhances their capabilities, improves the enabling and investment environment for them, and contributes to establishing incubators for rural women entrepreneurs and developing models for small and complementary rural enterprises.

He added that the total number of rural women eligible for program support since its launch in 2020 has reached 57,719 women across all targeted sectors, with 1,897 women in the coffee sector, 6,171 in the honey sector, 4,577 in the fruit sector, 245 in the rose sector, 2,008 in the rain-fed crops sector, and 42,621 in the value-added sector. The spokesperson noted that the total number of qualified women across all sectors is 54,933.
