The Norias Department in Hama City Council started the restoration and rehabilitation works of the Four Norias of Bechriyyat located on the Orontes

The diameter of the Bechriyyat Noria reached 16 meters.

Director of Norias Department Mohammad Sabaa al-Arab told SANA report in a statement that the restoration and rehabilitation works are carried out by a specialized workshop and include designing and implementing of wooden models instead of the damaged pieces.

He noted that Bechriyyat waterwheel is considered as the third largest waterwheel in the province that is still existed for thousands of years

The director added that the department plans to maintain and rehabilitate most of the Norias for this year.

For his part, head of maintenance workshop, Ghazwan Al-Saqqa, noted to the difficulty in securing maintenance materials, in addition to the need for new young trained workers as they are the most capable to complete the maintenance works optimally.

It is noteworthy that the Department in Hama had restored and maintained four waterwheels over the past year
