Minister of Information, Melhem Riachy, on Friday indicated that the relations between the Lebanese Forces and Marada Movement were heading towards normalization in order to turn over a new leaf following the Lebanese civil war.

“This relation with Marada does not harm our alliance with the Free Patriotic Movement; we do respect the FPM ties with its allies, who aren’t ours,” he explained.

Interviewed on MTV channel, Riachy said that the relations between the LF and Future Movement were “excellent,” confirming an electoral coalition between the two sides.

On the LF relations with Hezbollah, Riachy indicated that the two parties were two Lebanese forces represented in the government. “There is communication over current affairs relevant to citizens (…) but this is not negotiation, because we cannot agree with them over their presence in Syria,” he said.

“We separate our relation with House Speaker Nabih Berri from that with Hezbollah. Our relation with Amal Movement is not new, despite disagreement over many issues,” he added.

On the election law, Riachy indicated that work was underway to make short TV episodes to educate the Lebanese on the newly-endorsed vote mode, in collaboration with Tele Liban.
