RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO LEBANON ON RECENT INCIDENT AT CANADIAN PARLIAMENT: RUSSIA ADAMANT IN COMMITMENT TO FIGHT AGAINST HEROIZATION OF NAZISM

The following is a commentary shared by Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, on the recent incident at the Canadian Parliament, where MPs applauded the 98-year-old Ukrainian member of the Waffen SS Division Yaroslav Hunka:

‘The Fascist Face of Politicized Western Democracy

We can’t help but notice the videos shared virally all over the world from the Canadian Parliament, where MPs applaud the 98-year-old Ukrainian member of the Waffen SS Division Yaroslav Hunka. It appears that the Canadian authorities could not care less about the sacred memories of their compatriots who shed their blood fighting the Nazi regime in World War II.

The fact that the Global Majority categorically deplores and does not allow for such criminal ceremonials for fascists, Banderites, and other Nazi-sympathizing thugs gives us hope.

Russia is adamant in its commitment to fight against the heroization of Nazism, and that includes doing so at the UN. Nowadays, when the Collective West is attempting to glorify Nazi criminals, this fight becomes ever more relevant. I will reiterate – such eulogies are simply impermissible!

We are thankful to our Lebanese friends for their continuous support of the Russian resolution titled ‘Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance’ during the voting procedure at the UN General Assembly.

Hopefully, this year – just like back during the 76th Session of the UN GA – Lebanon will not only vote in favor of the resolution, but will also co-author this document that is absolutely crucial for the future of humanity.’
