The Strong Lebanon parliamentary bloc held its regular meeting this Tuesday under the chairmanship of President of the Free Patriotic Movement, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil.

In the wake of the meeting, MP Salim Aoun said: “The bloc discussed the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, and considered that Israel is trying to change the rules of engagement that have been in place since 2006, which is unacceptable.”

“What is happening is inseparable from Israel’s hostilities in Iraq and Syria. The bloc stressed that Lebanon has the right to retain its elements of strength and to defend itself with all its abilities,” Aoun said.

The bloc also discussed the economic and financial situations, affirming its support for the steps taken by His Excellency President Michel Aoun “to formulate a national position that helped take effective measures and paved the way for the issuance of the 2019 budget in a timely manner.”

The bloc confirmed its adherence to the plans accomplished by the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Ministry of Environment and approved by the Council of Ministers.
