SARC receives 2,520 tons of rice provided by China

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the Chinese Embassy in Damascus inked on Sunday a Memo of Understanding (MoU) to receive 2,520 tons of rice as food aid provided by the People’s Republic of China to Syria.

In a press conference after signing the MoU at the SARC organization’s headquarter in Damascus, Head of SARC, Khaled Haboubati said the quantity includes the third, fourth, fifth and sixth batches of rice provided by China as part of aid provided in 2021.

He added that the organization received a quantity of rice on July 17, which is the first batch of aid from Chinese friends.

He indicated that the organization seeks to support those most in need in different regions and provinces to meet their basic requirements.

He praised the Chinese government and people’s stance in support of Syria.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus Feng Biao noted that the aid aims to alleviate suffering of the Syrian people, and proves the depth of friendship between the two countries.

He pointed out that the amount of food aid provided to the organization during 2021 amounted to 4,000 tons, as well as more aid will be sent during the coming period.
