The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia announced plans to operate direct flights between Dammam, Eastern region, and the Iraqi city of Al-Najaf. The service will commence June 01, 2024.

This new route follows direct flights previously operating from Saudi Arabia to Baghdad and Erbil in the Republic of Iraq.

The move was based on the national strategy for the aviation sector in the Kingdom, aiming to double the capacity and reach more than 330million passengers annually and more than 250 destinations in the world and, in particular, extending the close relations that link Saudi Arabia with the Republic of Iraq.
