Saudi Team Heads to Regeneron ISEF

Riyadh: A team of 35 top Saudi science and engineering students are leaving tomorrow for the US to compete in this year’s Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Held in Los Angeles from May 10 to 18, the event brings together 1,700 young people from 70 countries to showcase their groundbreaking projects and vie for top honors.

Backed by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, the Saudi team is a cream of the crop selection. Chosen from among this year’s 45 winners of the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa), these students boast academic brilliance and passion for scientific inquiry.

Their journey to ISEF has been a culmination of rigorous training and mentorship provided by Mawhiba for a year to ensure that they are well equipped to present their projects and engage with international peers.

This year’s competition is the 18th in a row in which Saudi Arabia takes part. Since 2007, Saudi studen
ts have racked up an impressive 133 awards, including 92 grand prizes and 41 special awards. This remarkable record highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation and scientific excellence in its young generation.
