SDRPY and Selah Foundation for Development Sign Agreement on Water Security Project in Hadhramaut

Riyadh: An agreement on the project to enhance water security with renewable energy in Hadhramaut governorate was signed today, with a contribution from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the Selah Foundation for Development.

The project targets, directly and indirectly, to serve about half a million people and more than 1.7 million beneficiaries in the coast and valley of Hadhramaut.

The SDRPY was represented by its Assistant General Supervisor Engineer, Hassan Al-Attas and the Selah Foundation for Development was represented by its Executive Director, Ali Hassan Bashmakh, in the presence of Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Badib, Yemeni Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, the General Supervisor of the SDRPY, Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jabir, and the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mabkhout bin Madi.

The Governor of Hadhramaut expressed his thanks for the development projects led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
through the SDRPY.

Bin Madi also praised the Saudi program’s contributions to enhancing infrastructure and supporting vital sectors related to citizens in the Hadhramaut governorate. He extended thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with the program’s employees, and the brotherly Saudi people.

SDRPY’s assistant general supervisor noted that the program offers development projects and initiatives that have contributed to raising the efficiency of basic and vital sectors and improving people’s lives across Yemen, namely 229 development projects and initiatives throughout the country.

The Executive Director of the Selah Foundation for Development, Ali Hassan Bashmakh, reiterated that the foundation is proud of the fruitful development partnership with the SDRPY, which has fortified the country’s use of renewable energy.

The proje
ct to enhance water security in Hadhramaut governorate aims to increase water resources through solar energy in nine districts on the coast and valley of Hadhramaut. Adopting clean energy will reduce dependence on fuel in operating wells and reduce production costs. The project will also work to build the capabilities of workers in fields in terms of the use and operation of solar energy systems.
