BEIRUT, — The Lebanese Army, tipped off by the local security forces, captured a notorious militant of al-Nusra Front in Arsal region.

Mahmoud Hossein Othman, a notorious militant with Syrian nationality, was arrested by the Lebanese soldiers in Arsal of Bekka and was handed over to the relevant bodies.

Last week, the Lebanese Army targeted several hideouts belonging to the Daesh inside Jaroud ‘Arsal and killed several militants during the operation.

“The Lebanese Army targeted the Western slopes of Jaroud ‘Arsal near the Jaroud Jarajeer border-crossing into Syria, killing or wounding dozens of militants in the course of the operation,” a security source in Beirut said.

The Lebanese army began the operation to purge Eastern and Northeastern Lebanon near the Syrian border of terrorists, which were used by Daesh and al-Qaeda affiliated group of al-Nusra Front to cross back and forth into Lebanon.

Elsewhere, the Lebanese Army’s combat choppers and artillery units opened fire at strongholds of al-Nusra Front in Northeastern Lebanon.

Al-Nusra’s depot of arms and ammunition was also targeted and destroyed in the attacks.
