British fighter jets helped retake the Syrian city of Manbij from Daesh, a senior official has said.

A statement by the Dubai-based Regional Media Centre quoted the UK Special Representative for Syria Gareth Bayley as saying that Daesh’s defeat in the Syrian city of Manbij is the latest in a series of defeats suffered by the group.

Bayley explained that the British Royal Air Force provided support for the Syrian Democratic Forces by directing air strikes against Daesh targets in Manbij.

“I hope that conditions in the city now allow the city residents to return to their homes,” he added.

Bayley pointed out that Britain is ready to help where it can in Syrian areas under the control of moderate forces.
