Sisi: Egypt spends $400 bn to escape poverty trap

The Egyptian State spent more than $400 billion over a period spanning seven years in order to escape the poverty trap, affirmed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

It is important to confront poverty through hard work as it destroys the present and future, he went on to say.

During a session held under the rubric “Developmental experiments in the face of poverty”, as part of proceedings of the third day of World Youth Forum Wednesday, Sisi said that poverty is also related to ignorance, which poses a danger for everything humanity undertakes.

He, meanwhile, underlined the importance of doing more efforts to confront poverty.

He also saluted the Egyptian youth, saying that they were behind the idea of holding the WYF.

The Decent Life Initiative, which became an inspiring model, was also one of the ideas of the Egyptian youth, he pointed out.
