Sisi says hates extremism; Prophet Muhammad is role model

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Sunday that he very much hates extremism because it reveals an ugly face of humanity.

Sisi, while attending an “Able to Differ” ceremony to honor people of determination, said his role model from history is the Prophet Muhammad and his companions.

The Prophet Muhammad is a great role model, Sisi said, noting that he and his companions offered such a beautiful example of Muslims and Islam.

“What happened over the past years from harmful people was not a beautiful example of Islam and Muslims,” Sisi told the gathering. It was terrorism and extremism, he noted.

He underscored “animosity” toward extremism and not toward any person in particular.

Sisi was replying to a question by athletic champion Aya Shaltout about his role model.

Another participant in the event asked the president about his favorite sports and he answered that it is karate, noting that its disciplinary features positively affect the personality of performers.

One of the participants, Abdel Rahman Ashraf, asked the president about a project he thinks would greatly contribute to Egypt’s renaissance and Sisi said it is “Decent Life”, which is meant to upgrade the Egyptian countryside and improve the living conditions of about 60 million citizens.
