Sousan: US and Turkish occupation of some Syrian lands main reason for prolonging crisis

Head of the Syrian Arab Republic delegation to the 17th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format, Dr. Ayman Sousan, has affirmed that the US and Turkish occupation of some Syrian lands is the main reason for prolonging the crisis.

In the Syrian delegation’s statement at the conclusion of the meeting held in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan on Wednesday, Sousan stressed that Syria will continue to fight terrorism and chase its remnants on all its lands until eliminating it completely.

He said that the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic reviewed the latest developments in Syria, particularly the completion of the settlement process in Daraa and Deir Ezzor, which would consolidate stability in the country.

Sousan added that the Syrian delegation highlighted the effects of the illegitimate unilateral coercive measures that affect the Syrian citizen’s life and livelihood and limit the ability to provide the potentials to combat the Coronavirus epidemic.

He stressed that these measures constitute flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

Sousan described the United States’ acts plundering the Syrian people’s resources of oil and wheat and supporting the QSD militia as “crimes against humanity” and increase the suffering of the Syrians, stressing that the aggressive practices of the Turkish regime amount to “war crimes.” ?

Sousan indicated that the delegation gave an overview on the efforts exerted by state’s institutions at the humanitarian level to provide aid to those who need it without any discrimination, adding that the delegation also explained Syria’s rejection of the continuation of the so-called cross-border aid.

Sousan expressed Syria’s regret for ignoring the humanitarian situation in Syria by the briefing of the Special Envoy to Syria and the report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations two days ago, as they did not mention these facts as they are, pointing out that the impartiality and commitment to objectivity in the UN reports is a basic secret that maintains the credibility and objectivity of it.
