Syria, Iraq to enhance cooperation to face water challenges stemming from Turkish occupation acts

Damascus, Foreign and Expatiates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, underlined the importance of boosting coordination and consultation between Syria and Iraq and raise it up to the level of distinguished relations between the two people.

Mikdad, meeting Iraqi Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid al-Hamdani and Minister of Environment Jasem Abdel-Aziz al-Falahi, reviewed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly states.

He briefed the Iraqi delegation on the negative impacts left by the Turkish occupation-backed terrorist groups and their immoral practices, including cutting water off Hasaka.

Mikdad warned against the dangerous situation stemming from the cut of water in wide areas in Iraq and Syria and its impacts on health, agriculture and environment.

Minister Hamadani, for his part, stressed the importance of the Iraqi delegation’s visit to Syria in order to take part in the Syrian-Iraqi join meeting to launch the 9th stage of the International Governmental Hydrologic program.
