Syrian Arab Republic delegation holds talks with UN delegation in Nur-Sultan

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Ayman Sousan, held a meeting in Nur-Sultan on Tuesday with the delegation of the United Nations that enjoys observer status in the Astana process, headed by UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Khawla Matar, within the framework of the 17th Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format.

Talks during the meeting tackled the situation in Syria, as Dr. Sousan stressed that the briefings of the UN Special Envoy for Syria and the UN reports should be objective and impartial and should describe the facts as they are in order to preserve the credibility of the United Nations.

He pointed out at the same time that economic terrorism, illegitimate coercive measures and the theft of Syrians’ wealth by the US and Turkish occupations are the reason for the suffering of the Syrians.

Sousan referred to Syria’s principled stance on the issue of delivery of humanitarian assistance across border to Syria, expressing Syria’s readiness to continue making all efforts to end the suffering of the missing and kidnapped by terrorist organizations.

He pointed out that the Turkish regime puts obstacles in the way of ending this tragedy.

In turn, Matar affirmed her great appreciation for the efforts made by the Syrian state and its cooperation with international organizations to put an end to the suffering of the abductees.
