Syrian-Iraqi talks to deal with water deterrent situation

Ministers of Water Resources in Syria and Iraq discussed on Wednesday challenges related to the water situation in the two countries, including the negative effects of climate change and the stance of Turkish side that decreases the rate of pouring water of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.

During a virtual meeting, Minister of Water Resources, Tammam Raad, called for the necessity of joint work, exchanging information and data, technical and scientific communication, and everything related to water developments in the interests of both countries

Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mehdi Rashid al-Hamdani, expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Syrian experts to find a common solution to the conditions and obstacles that face the two countries.

The Iraqi Minister visited Syria last July to discuss cooperation between the two countries in fields of water resources.
