Damascus: The Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums has inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Syrian Pottery Through Ages’ at the Damascene Hall within the Damascus National Museum, as part of the Syrian Culture Days celebrations.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the exhibition features an impressive collection of pottery pieces spanning four significant historical periods: prehistory, the ancient East, the classical eras, and the Islamic period. These artifacts vary in shape, color, and size, each narrating the storied history of pottery-a vital element of Syrian civilization.
Culture Minister Diala Barakat emphasized the event’s significance, highlighting its role in celebrating Syrian Culture Days. The exhibition aims to showcase the importance of pottery across Syrian geography and its evolution over the centuries.
Director General of Antiquities and Museums, Nazir Awad, remarked that the exhibition offers a comprehensive view of the richness and diversity inherent in Syria’s pottery industry
. He noted the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Syrian artisans, whose skillful creations have been recognized and exported internationally.
