With the participation of representatives from Education and Higher Education ministries in Syria and Russia , Damascus University, in cooperation with Moscow State Pedagogical University (MSPU) held a forum on the Russian language under the title “Promoting the Study of Russian Language at the Educational Institutes in Syria”.

The forum aims to exchange expertise and prepare the conditions to improve and spread teaching the Russian language and culture along with discussing the issues related to teaching this language and its literature at the Russian and Syrian educational institutes to enhance the scientific ,cultural and social relations between the two friendly peoples.

President of Damascus University , Mohammed Yasar Abdin, expressed his hope that this forum would contribute to promoting the level of teaching the Russian language and offering the required human and technical support in this domain ,in addition to discussing the techniques and methods to promote teaching the language in a way that contributes to graduating academic cadres who are qualified at the Russian language and its literature to support the Education Ministry’s schools.

Abdin added that Damascus University opened a Russian Language Department since 2014 and this was necessary to get acquainted with the Russian language, literature and culture.
