The body of Abd Nawaf al Sawadi from al Zar village of al Basira city east of Deir Ez-Zour governorate was found by other residents of the desert near al Kassar village in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate on May 24, 2022. His body bore visible gunshot wounds.

The region is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and so far, SNHR has been unable to identify the party responsible for his murder. While the controlling forces are responsible for identifying the perpetrators, they have yet to open an investigation into this killing, which raises questions about their involvement in this incident and other similar incidents.
