THE MINISTER OF WORKS PRESENTED WITH JAH PUBLIC TRANSPORT PROJECTS

The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Dr. Ali Hamieh, received today the Director of the Mashreq Department at the World Bank, Saroj Kumar Jah, accompanied by the representative of the World Bank in Lebanon, Mona Quzi, in the presence of former Minister Nicolas Nahas and a team from the ministry. The project of the rapid transit system for the Beirut line was discussed. Tabarja, funded by the World Bank, with a value of 295 million US dollars (BRT).

Gah considered that “there is no possibility of proceeding with this project”, and presented the obstacles that led to this, the most important of which is “the failure to implement the Jounieh Expressway expansion project.”

And he presented a set of alternative suggestions that he put before his diet to study and approve the appropriate ones later.

In turn, the Minister of Works stressed “the importance of having a joint public transport project in Lebanon, especially in these difficult circumstances that the country is experiencing,” stressing “the need to develop immediate projects that will benefit the Lebanese citizen quickly,” with his appreciation for the alternative suggestions raised by Jah, expressing at the same time His openness to “studying it would serve Lebanon’s immediate and medium-term interest alike.”
