KUALA LUMPUR, Three Malaysians who joined Daesh militant group in Syria were killed in battle on Friday.

Police Principal asst director of Counter Terrorism Branch Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed the matter.

“This is based on information received from our intelligence,” he said

The three killed were Zainuri Kamarudin, 50, (former member of Malaysian

Mujahideen), Sazrizal Mohd Sofian Thayalan,27, and Ahmad Asyraf Arbee Ahmad

Jamal Arbee,31.

Zainuri @ Abu Talhaha @ Nuri Bota issued a video to launch attacks on Malaysia last year.

The trio were believed killed in air strikes by Syrian troops in Raqqah. They left for Syria in April 2014.

He said this brings to 30 the number of Malaysian militants killed in Syria.

He added that a total of 95 Malaysian militants who sneaked out of the country for Syria had bee indentified.

Meanwhile police have detained six men for alleged involvement in bomb-making during separate raids in Pasir Mas, Kelantan state Sunday.

The suspects, in their 30s and 40s, were picked up at their homes in a

series of raids which began about 4am.

Kelantan police chief Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said the police found

several items, including wires and batteries believed to be components to make

bombs.
