TURKEY IS WORKING TO OPEN TWO BORDER CROSSINGS WITH SYRIA

Today, Turkey is working to open two border crossings with Syria to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to its neighbor, following the earthquake that killed more than 17,000 people in the two countries.

There is only one border crossing open, in Hatay province, in southern Turkey, and it is designated for vital aid to Syrian areas under opposition control, according to a decision of the United Nations Security Council., as reported by “AFP”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters on Wednesday evening: “Some roads were damaged on the Syrian side of the border. Our aid and international aid are having difficulty crossing due to the destruction.”

“So we are working on opening two more crossings,” he said.

“We also aim for humanitarian reasons to open border crossings with government-controlled areas” in Damascus, Cavusoglu added.
