Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Cagatay Erciyes, on Wednesday denied claims that a delegation of Turkish officials had visited the Syrian capital of Damascus for a meeting with Syrian officials.

The Turkish diplomat deemed the aforementioned allegations mere rumors that were far from the truth.

“There has been no change made concerning Turkey’s conviction that a political solution should be sought to end the Syrian crisis,” he said in a statement.

Moreover, he added that his country has recently ratcheted up calls on the UN and International Society to take tangible steps to swiftly halt “those disgraceful acts against humanity.”
