On November 13, 2022, a landmine, whose source has not been identified so far, exploded in an agricultural land near Maqta Hajar Kabir village, administratively affiliated to Manbij city in eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, killing two civilians: Hasan al-Jnaid, aged 22, and Hamid Theeb alIbrahim, aged 25, both from the same village which is held by SDF.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that the area where the landmine exploded is a dividing line between Syrian regime forces and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

SNHR is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.

We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities to protect civilians living in areas under their control, to disclose the locations of landmines, and to work on properly removing them.

We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, with these mines continuing to pose a serious threat to the lives of residents, especially children, that will last for years.
