US criticizes OPEC+ decisions to cut oil production

The White House criticized as “inadvisable” the decisions announced by OPEC+ partners yesterday to reduce their oil output by more than 1.6 million barrels per day.

The White House cautioned against the consequences of the production cuts, said National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby on Monday. “We don’t think that production cuts are advisable at this moment, given market uncertainty,” he said, adding, “We made that clear.” Yesterday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced a voluntary plan to cut its oil output by 500,000 bpd starting from May until the end of the year, Kuwait will cut 128,000 bpd, the UAE -144,000 bpd, Oman – 40,000 pbd, .

Other OPEC+ partners stated that they would reduce their output, including Russia – 500,000 bpd, Iraq – 211,000 bpd, Kazakhstan – 87,000 bpd, and Algeria 48,000 bpd.
