US Sanctions Indonesian Humanitarian NGO in Connection With HTS

The US government has sanctioned a humanitarian NGO for allegedly being a front for an Indonesian Islamist group, which reportedly uses the charity to finance its members and Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham-linked fighters in Syria. With HTS dominance in the humanitarian sector, and as the extremist organisation instrumentalises relief work to its politico-religious ends, humanitarian organisations in Northwest Syria are likely to experience increasing scrutiny.
