MP Amin Wehbe said in an interview with As-sharq Radio that the visit of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Moscow falls within the context of visiting major countries and following up on the affairs of the region, in addition to strengthening Lebanon’s relations with all countries.

He pointed out that “the Russian implication in the Syrian war, as well as the decision to withdraw from the war, have major repercussions. Russia is now pressing for chances of a political solution in Syria and not a military one.”

“The meetings held by Prime Minister Saad Hariri with Russian officials, particularly President Putin and Minister Lavrov, have major importance particularly in terms of demanding from the Russian leadership attention and support for Lebanon at this critical period,” he said.

Tackling governmental issues amid rumors and scandals, Wehbe said “If the government wanted to be logical vis-a-vis the crisis in which we live, it should have held more than one session per week to address the successive crises and scandals.”

“These scandals and crises are evidence of the collapse of State institutions,” he said, blaming supervisory authorities for failing to assume their duties in a bid to satisfy one leader or another.

Wehbe attributed all these things to what he called “cohabitation between the State and the Statelet”, hoping “the cabinet could address critical dossiers, mainly the illegal Internet scandal and the human trafficking crisis.”
