Second intake of PLCP completes programme

The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) held the closing ceremony of the second intake of the Professional Legal Practice Certificate (PLPC) programme.

The event was attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa as Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Vice Chair, Court of Cassation President; Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, Attorney General; Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister; and Counsellor Nawaf Abdullah Hamza, Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission.

The Minister of Justice stressed the importance of this training programme, which JLSI developed to meet job market requirements in this speciality.

As a primary objective of the programme, law graduates are trained to practice law in English and acquire key legal skills.

The Justice Minister thanked the JLSI for its efforts and all contributors to the programme, including law firms.

Dr. Riyadh Mohammed Ibrahim Seyadi, JLSI director, said the programme was developed to expand training programs for legal practitioners and new lawyers, with a focus on developing legal skills in newly created jobs such as private notaries and private enforcement officers, as well as arbitration and mediation.

Fifty eight law graduates applied for the programme, and only 23 were accepted.

During the six months of theoretical and practical training, the candidates covered 13 modules in topics such as legal ethics, legal drafting, critical thinking and analysis, contracts, and corporate and financial law.

Training in the programme was provided by the following law firms: Dr. Hassan Radhi & Associates, Ali Al Aradi Attorneys and Legal Consultants, Zeenat Al Mansoori & Associates, Al Tamimi & Co., Newton Legal Group, DLA Piper, and Mena Chambers Bahrain.
