Yazigi: Importance of NAM’s continued support to follow up health situation in occupied Syrian Golan and occupied Palestine

Geneva, Health Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries held the 12th meeting on Wednesday, with the participation of a Syrian delegation headed by Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi as part of the agenda of the 72nd World Health Assembly, the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO).

They reviewed the health situation in their countries and efforts to maintain the public health.

Delivering a speech, Yazigi affirmed the need to exert more efforts in the international forums, mainly WHO to face the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on countries of the NAM for political reasons.

Yazigi called on the NAM’s countries to continue supporting the stances of the Syrian and Palestinian delegations in the face of attempts by the Israeli occupation to evade its obligations in providing healthcare to the Palestinian and the Syrian Arabs in occupied Syrian Golan and occupied Palestine territory , which were recognized by international humanitarian law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1948.

He reiterated Syria’s firm support to Venezuela in the face of the pressures and challenges facing it , hailing its efforts during its presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Yazigi discussed with his Venezuelan counterpart Carlos Humberto Alvarado Gonzalez means to enhance health cooperation between Syria and Venezuela, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.
